Alaska Airlines opens new 14,000-sq-ft lounge at Portland airport

Alaska Airlines opened a new 14,000-square-foot lounge at Portland International Airport on June 4, 2026, doubling the size of its previous space and representing a nearly $18 million investment in premium travel infrastructure at one of its key West Coast hubs.

After more than two years of construction, the redesigned lounge welcomes guests with a warm Pacific Northwest aesthetic, featuring a striking wooden Mount Hood mural by local artist Ben Butler, an inviting fireplace, and high open ceilings that bring in natural light. The space accommodates more than 230 seats, including Alaska’s signature loungers, alongside private workspaces, soundproof rooms for calls and meetings, and ample power outlets.

The lounge offers barista-crafted coffee and specialty beverages, West Coast-inspired cocktails, fresh regionally inspired food, and Alaska’s signature pancake machine—a beloved amenity that has become a hallmark of the airline’s lounge experience. “Portland guests have chosen Alaska for years and played an important role in our growth in the Pacific Northwest,” said Shane Jones, Senior Vice President of Fleet, Products and Guest Experience at Alaska Airlines. “This new Lounge is our way of thanking them and a reflection of our growing portfolio of premium guest experiences.”

Portland is Alaska’s largest hub on the West Coast, with the airline operating more than 100 daily departures and nonstop service to over 60 destinations across North America. By fall 2026, Alaska will offer 50% more seats in Portland than it did two years earlier, reflecting strong demand for travel and the airline’s continued expansion in the market.

The Portland lounge opening is part of a broader expansion of Alaska’s premium lounge footprint. The airline announced in May 2026 that it plans to open a landmark 41,000-square-foot lounge in Seattle in late 2027, which will be the largest in its network and among the largest airline lounges in the country. The Seattle facility will span two levels with approximately 700 seats and feature premium amenities including showers, multiple bars, and à la carte dining. Alaska is also designing its first lounge in San Diego and expanding its lounge in Honolulu, both slated to open in early 2028.

Alaska Lounge members can access eight premium lounges across Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines’ network. Alaska Lounge+ membership provides access to all Alaska lounges plus nearly 90 partner lounges worldwide through oneworld and other partner airlines.
