Dan Bilzerian faces primary challenge in Florida’s 6th District tomorrow

Dan Bilzerian, a social media influencer and poker player, faces an uphill primary challenge tomorrow in Florida’s 6th Congressional District Republican primary against incumbent U.S. Representative Randy Fine, along with three other challengers in one of the state’s most competitive House races.

Bilzerian filed to run in the August 18, 2026 primary as a Republican candidate challenging Fine, who was elected to the seat in a special election in 2025 after former Representative Mike Waltz left for a U.S. House seat. The primary field includes Bilzerian, Fine, Charles Gambaro, Aaron Baker, and Manuel Asensio.

Despite the crowded field, Fine holds a commanding advantage heading into tomorrow’s vote. Prediction markets show Fine with 98% odds of winning the Republican primary, while other candidates sit at 3% or less, according to forecasting sites tracking the race. Fine has also raised substantially more funds than his challengers, totaling $4.29 million in campaign contributions.

Bilzerian’s campaign platform centers on libertarian-leaning positions, including calls to “abolish the ATF, IRS, and Federal Reserve,” according to candidate information published by local election guides. Fine’s campaign has focused on economic issues, particularly pledging to lower insurance rates and hold insurance companies accountable.

The race drew national attention when former President Trump endorsed Fine on August 17, just hours before voting began. That endorsement came as other challengers sought to consolidate support—Charles Gambaro, a Palm Coast City Council member who announced his challenge in August 2025, received an endorsement from Florida Lt. Governor Jay Collins on August 14.

Fine’s path to the primary was already secured through his special election victory, which he won by 14 percentage points. The district is 46% Republican and 27% Democratic, according to Cook Political Report data, giving the GOP nominee a substantial advantage in the general election. The winner of tomorrow’s Republican primary will face Democratic candidates Robert Cooper II, Steve Morgan, Ronnie Murchinson-Rivera, and Eric Yonce in the November general election.
