Mark Cuban’s Cost Plus Drugs adds 600+ generics to TrumpRx

Mark Cuban’s Cost Plus Drugs is now the primary supplier of generic medications on TrumpRx, with 559 of more than 600 new generics added to the Trump administration’s direct-to-consumer drug platform on May 18, 2026.

The expansion increases TrumpRx’s offerings by nearly seven times, according to President Trump’s announcement. The platform now integrates discounts from Cost Plus Drugs, Amazon Pharmacy, and GoodRx, allowing patients to search for hundreds of low-cost generic medicines in one place.

Cuban co-founded Cost Plus Drugs in January 2022 with Dr. Alex Oshmyansky. The company uses a transparent pricing formula—cost plus 15% markup plus a flat pharmacy fee—to offer generics at significantly lower prices than traditional pharmacies. When users click through TrumpRx to Cost Plus Drugs, they access the company’s catalog directly.

The partnership marks a notable alignment between Cuban and the Trump administration. Cuban had been a vocal critic of Trump during the 2024 election, endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris. At the May 18 announcement, Cuban called the arrangement a “special partnership,” saying the visibility on the federal platform would drive more patients to Cost Plus Drugs and help validate its mission of affordable medication access.

The White House fact sheet on the expansion emphasized that TrumpRx’s integration of these three partners brings patients “transparency and choice on everyday medicines.” Prior to this expansion, TrumpRx primarily offered discounts on brand-name drugs through manufacturer partnerships. The addition of generics addresses a key gap, since many brand-name medications have cheaper generic equivalents available.

Cost Plus Drugs has grown from 111 medications at launch to over 1,000 generics in its catalog. The company has also begun manufacturing its own generic medications, starting with sterile injectables in 2024. According to research from the University of Pennsylvania’s Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, Cost Plus Drugs can save employer-covered patients hundreds of dollars on certain high-cost generics compared to what they would pay through insurance.
