Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff leads Republican challenger Mike Collins by 13 points in the Georgia Senate race, according to a new Fox News poll released July 1, 2026, with Ossoff drawing 56% support compared to Collins’ 43% among registered voters.
The poll, conducted June 23-27 among 1,002 registered voters with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points, reflects a starkly different dynamic than Ossoff’s narrow 2021 runoff victory, when he defeated Republican David Perdue by just over a percentage point.
Ossoff’s strength comes from commanding support among key voter groups. Black voters back him at 87%, while independents favor him 68% to 32%, and moderates support him 66% to 34%. Voters under age 30 support Ossoff at 68%, as do women under 45 at 66%. Nearly all Democrats (96%) back the incumbent, and notably, 24% of non-MAGA Republicans say they plan to cross party lines to support him.
Collins’ base is narrower but defined. White evangelical Christians favor him at 79%, White men without a college degree support him 65% to 35%, and rural voters back him 55% to 45%. About half of gun-owner households (53%) and veterans (50%) support Collins.
Economic concerns and candidate perception
Inflation dominates voter priorities, with 40% citing it as the most important issue in their Senate vote. Healthcare ranks second at 13%, followed by political divisions, immigration, and jobs at 11% each. Ossoff holds a commanding 21-point advantage among voters most concerned about inflation and a 40-point lead among those focused on healthcare. Collins flips this advantage on immigration, leading by 45 points among voters prioritizing that issue.
Personal favorability ratings reveal a significant gap. Ossoff holds 58% favorable to 38% unfavorable, while Collins sits at 44% favorable to 47% unfavorable. President Trump’s favorability in Georgia stands at 42%, down 5 points from 47% in the 2024 election analysis.
When asked about candidate alignment, 53% of voters express concern that Collins is too close to Trump, compared to 47% who worry Ossoff is too liberal. Among Collins’ own supporters, only 56% say their vote is for him; 44% admit it is primarily a vote against Ossoff. For Ossoff’s base, more than 8 in 10 supporters say their vote is actively for him rather than against his opponent.
Collins secured the Republican nomination in June after receiving a last-minute endorsement from President Trump in the primary runoff. He defeated Derek Dooley, who had been backed by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, in a race that exposed divisions within the state GOP.
Georgia remains a critical swing state. Trump carried the state by about 2 points in 2024 after losing it by less than a percentage point in 2020 and winning it by more than 5 points in 2016. The Senate race will be decided November 3, 2026.
