Michael Cohen, the former Trump attorney who became a key witness against the president, debuted a weekly radio show on 77 WABC on Sunday, July 12, as the two men’s years-long feud has given way to what Cohen describes as a deepening reconciliation. The show, titled “When You Know, You Know,” airs Sundays at 5 PM ET and features Cohen discussing politics, power, and redemption with guests including Anthony Scaramucci and Jerry Falwell Jr.
Cohen said the reconciliation with Trump began roughly six months ago, triggered by an unexpected text from what he called a “White House friend and an insider.” According to Cohen’s account on 77 WABC’s “Cats & Cosby Show,” the intermediary conveyed Trump’s “genuine empathy” for what Cohen described as the “hell” he had been experiencing. Cohen replied to Trump directly, expressing hope the “long, exhausting feud between the two of us could finally end.”
Trump replied “almost immediately,” Cohen said, agreeing it was “time for us to meet.” Cohen told CNN that their current relationship is “cordial and growing,” though he said he was still seeking permission to visit the White House for a one-on-one meeting in the coming weeks.
The reconciliation came after Cohen published a Substack post in January claiming he felt “pressured and coerced” by New York Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg to provide testimony that would satisfy the government’s desire to build cases against Trump. Cohen later testified as the key witness in Trump’s 2023 New York hush money trial, admitting he facilitated payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels at Trump’s direction before the 2016 election.
In his radio debut, Cohen framed the reconciliation as evidence that national divisions can be healed. According to the WABC description of the show, Cohen presents his relationship with Trump as a “fifteen-year friendship” that was “complicated” but “real,” and argues that if he and the president can bridge their divide, the rest of the country can too. The show replaces former Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Sunday slot on the Trump-friendly New York station.
Cohen’s shift has drawn criticism. A former GOP strategist told NJ.com that Cohen was “never a true never-Trumper” and always had a “For Sale” sign up. Cohen acknowledged on air that he understands the backlash, telling WABC that he expected people to question his motives given his public turn against Trump in recent years.
