7-Eleven is celebrating Slurpee’s 60th birthday on July 11 with free small Slurpees at participating locations nationwide, marking six decades since the iconic frozen drink debuted in 1966.
The promotion runs at 7-Eleven, Speedway, and Stripes stores with no purchase necessary. Customers can grab one free small Slurpee per visit at participating locations while supplies last.
To mark the milestone, 7-Eleven introduced the Mountain Dew Confetti Chill Slurpee, a limited-time flavor described as a citrus birthday cake-inspired blend of sweet lemon cake with vanilla icing. The white frozen drink can be topped with pink, green, and blue sugar crystals for added festivity. The flavor is available through August 29, 2026, at participating stores.
The Slurpee’s history traces back to 1966, when 7-Eleven made a licensing deal with The Icee Company to sell slushies in its stores. The name itself was coined by Bob Stanford, a 7-Eleven advertising executive, to describe the sound made when sipping the drink through a straw.
This year’s celebration also introduces the first-ever Slurpee Date experience at select 7-Eleven and Speedway locations. Customers can visit specially set-up benches designed for shareable photo moments, with on-site photographers capturing memories. Attendees receive limited-edition bedazzled Slurpee “S” double straws as a keepsake.
The anniversary also coincides with 7-Eleven’s 99th birthday. The retailer is offering commemorative 60th Anniversary Slurpee Day cups and a limited-edition fine jewelry collection in collaboration with PASCAL, a colored lab-grown diamond brand, available through 7Collection.com.
