Ruecker: “Prishtina Airport closer to certification”
Prishtinë, Apr 26, 2006 - The Head of UNMIK Pillar IV Joachim Ruecker said on Monday following a meeting with Airport of Prishtina Managing Director James Johnson that the AP is on the right way to meet all requirements for obtaining of the international license.
Ruecker also stressed that OIOS report of mismanagement at the AP is unfounded.
"I was informed with the achievements so far, and we had a very extensive exchange of views on current developments at the Airport," Ruecker emphasized.
He stressed that Johnson has been here for eleven weeks, and has many plans that will allow Airport Prishtina to obtain the international license within a reasonable timeframe.
Ruecker also informed that among the plans is "reconstruction of the departure area and the cargo hall which will actually be turned into a new arrival area," which is part of modernization of the Airport.
