Government not to attend KTA Board meetings

Prishtina, 14 February 2003 – The Kosovar daily “Zëri” quotes Mimoza Kusari, spokeswoman of the Kosovo Government, as saying that in its last meeting, the Cabinet had decided that the government representatives would not attend the meetings of the Board of Directors of the Kosovo Trust Agency, until UNMIK fulfills the government’s demands on the issue of privatization in Kosovo.

‘The ministers who represent the government in the KTA Board will not attend the meetings until our demands presented to UNMIK are not fulfilled; in writing, too!’ Kusari added.

Zëri notes that Ministers Ali Jakupi and Ali Sadriu, who represent the Kosovo Government in the KTA Board, have not attended the recent KTA meeting, following a decision by the government as a reaction to UNMIK’s failure to fulfill the government’s demands. The paper notes that one of the main demands of the government is to dismiss KTA Director Marie Fucci, who along with UNMIK Pillar IV head Nikolaus Lambsdorff, have been accused of complicating and blocking the process of privatization in Kosovo.
