Kosovo imports during day, exports during night

Prishtina, 1 February 2007 - According to officials of Kosovo Energetic Corporation (KEK), around 95 MW of electricity are being imported during the day to cover the increased consumption, while 60 MW are exported during the night to Albania, when the consumption of electricity in Kosovo decreases.

KEK Spokesperson, Donika Kadaj-Bujupi said yesterday that by the end of December, KEK owed Albanian KESH (Albanian Electro-energy Company) 56 GW, while 5 GW were paid back in January.

KEK plans to return its debt to Albania during spring-summer seasons. According to kosovar media reports, customers owe KEK around 289 million.
