Fidelity crypto fund reportedly drew $311M in one day, TradingView reports

Fidelity crypto investors put roughly $310.72 million into the Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (ticker FBTC) on September 18, according to TradingView’s Crypto Briefing report.

TradingView says FBTC’s $310.72 million net inflow on September 18 made up about 72% of that day’s total $433 million of net flows into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs.

The article adds that BlackRock’s IBIT took in about $108 million the same day, and together those two funds captured roughly 97% of net inflows across the U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF complex, per TradingView.

TradingView also reports that since FBTC’s January 2024 launch the fund has accumulated approximately $10.36 billion in cumulative net inflows, placing it among the largest U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs.

On a technical level, Crypto Briefing explained that when FBTC receives net subscriptions, the fund’s authorized participants buy an equivalent dollar amount of Bitcoin on the open market or through OTC desks to create shares, transmitting demand into Bitcoin order books.

That mechanism is the same process driving the reported $102.53 billion in assets under management across all U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs as of September 18, TradingView says, an amount equal to roughly 6.29% of Bitcoin’s market capitalization on that date.

The TradingView piece framed the day’s flows as part of a broader pattern: FBTC had earlier recorded a nine-day consecutive net buying streak in August that totalled $413.1 million, and the single-day move on September 18 amounted to about 75% of that multi-day accumulation.

What this means for investors is structural: when a small number of funds capture most daily flows, competition for investor capital narrows, which can concentrate trading impact in the largest ETFs, TradingView warned.
