Vice President JD Vance visited Jackson Hole on Wednesday for a Republican National Committee fundraiser, continuing his aggressive schedule of high-dollar events ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
Vance arrived at Jackson Hole Airport on Tuesday morning after attending a fundraiser in Big Sky, Montana the previous evening. According to the Federal Aviation Administration’s temporary flight restrictions, the vice president was in the area between Wednesday morning and Friday, with a 7-mile radius restriction encompassing Jackson, Wilson, and Teton Village.
While the specific details of the fundraiser remained private, Jackson Hole has become a premier destination for high-dollar Republican events. Last July, Vance attended a similar fundraiser in Teton County where tickets cost $100,000 per couple, with event hosts paying $250,000 each. That 2025 event was expected to raise $2 million for the Republican National Committee.
Vance also took time for an impromptu hike down the Old Pass Road on the Bridger-Teton National Forest near Wilson, led by a Bridger-Teton ambassador, according to WyoFile. The visit attracted about a dozen protesters who gathered in Teton Village, with demonstrators holding signs criticizing the vice president’s positions on public lands and immigration.
As the first sitting vice president to serve as finance chair of the Republican National Committee, Vance has been instrumental in building the GOP’s war chest for the midterms. He has headlined multiple fundraisers across the country in recent months, raising millions for the party. His Jackson Hole visit comes just days after he hosted a fundraiser in Southampton, New York, that raised more than $5 million for young Republican donors.
Jackson Hole’s ultra-wealthy population and proximity to major national parks have made it a sought-after location for political fundraising. In August 2025, House Speaker Mike Johnson hosted a fundraiser at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, and former President Donald Trump visited the area in 2024 for similar events.
