Social Security payments issued today to beneficiaries born 11th–20th

Social Security payments are being issued today to beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th of the month, marking the second wave of July distributions according to the official Social Security Administration schedule.

The Social Security Administration staggers monthly payments across three groups based on the day of the month beneficiaries were born. Those with birthdays falling between the 1st and 10th receive payments on the second Wednesday, those born between the 11th and 20th get paid on the third Wednesday, and those with birthdays between the 21st and 31st receive their benefits on the fourth Wednesday of each month.

According to the Social Security Administration, nearly 71 million beneficiaries receive Social Security retirement, disability, and survivor benefits. The staggered payment system allows the SSA to distribute benefits efficiently across the entire beneficiary population throughout each month, with payments typically arriving via direct deposit to bank accounts.

The payment you receive in July covers your benefit for June, according to AARP. For most beneficiaries, payments arrive on one of the three designated Wednesdays, though Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients operate under a separate schedule and receive payments on the 1st and 3rd of each month.

Earlier this year, approximately 75 million Americans saw their Social Security benefits increase by 2.8 percent, a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) that took effect in January 2026. The increase translated to an average of more than $56 additional per month for recipients, according to reporting from the Social Security Administration.

The birth-date-based payment system has been in place for years as a way to manage the volume of benefit distributions. If you’re unsure of your payment date, the SSA provides a benefit payment schedule lookup tool on its website where you can verify your specific payment date based on your birthday.
