Rush Limbaugh’s legacy lives on through foundation and patriotic mission

Five years after Rush Limbaugh’s death in February 2021, the conservative radio icon’s patriotic mission continues through the Rush and Kathryn Adams Limbaugh Family Foundation, which carries forward his vision of supporting young Americans and honoring military families.

The foundation, established in 2019, operates as a private charitable organization dedicated to advancing the values Limbaugh championed throughout his career. According to recent filings, the foundation holds assets of approximately $4.3 million and maintains a broad mandate spanning education, military support, and medical research.

The foundation provides scholarships for young patriots through programs including the American Patriot Scholarship, the American Hero Scholarship, and the Rush Revere Academic Excellence Award. Beyond education, the organization supports the families of fallen military heroes and law enforcement officers, as well as individuals facing medical hardships.

Patriotic History Initiative and 2026 Relaunch

In June 2026, Kathryn Adams Limbaugh, who serves as CEO of Rush Limbaugh Legacy, announced a major initiative tied to America’s 250th birthday: the relaunch of the bestselling Rush Revere children’s book series. Speaking on Fox News’ “Hannity,” she emphasized that Rush “saw a problem throughout the country where accurate patriotic American history was not being taught” and created the books so young people could experience the nation’s founding story.

The Rush Revere series, which comprises five New York Times bestselling titles, features a time-traveling history teacher who takes readers back to pivotal moments in American history. Kathryn Limbaugh stated that “It was important to him that he made accurate, patriotic American history fun and engaging, so that young people could be so proud of their country.” Proceeds from the relaunch benefit the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation, supporting families of fallen military heroes.

Broader Charitable Legacy

The foundation’s giving extends well beyond its direct scholarship programs. Over the years, Rush and Kathryn Limbaugh have raised more than $50 million for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through annual radiothons on The Rush Limbaugh Show, according to the foundation’s official materials. They also raised over $5 million for the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation through the Stand Up for Betsy Ross campaign and contributed millions to military organizations including the Wounded Warrior Project, K9s for Warriors, and Operation 300.

In February 2020, President Donald Trump awarded Limbaugh the Presidential Medal of Freedom in recognition of his lifetime contributions to conservatism and his charitable work. The foundation continues that legacy of generosity, with Kathryn Limbaugh regularly appearing on conservative media outlets to discuss the mission of teaching accurate history and supporting American heroes.
