Kosovo and Croatia to strengthen economic ties

The Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Croatia has opened avenues for substantial political and economic engagement between both nations. The two countries intend to increase their level of economic cooperation in the future, focusing on infrastructure, agroeconomy and energy investments.

President of Kosovo Chamber of Commerce, Besim Beqaj, early last week hosted the meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia, Zlatko Kramariq and discussed raising the level of economic cooperation between Kosovo and Croatia, a cooperation which, they hope will be successful.

Besim Beqaj, chairman of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce confirmed that the recognition of Kosovo's independence by Croatia has opened avenues for economic and substantial commitment of Kosovo. "We have some economic obstacles in the region, and hope that with friends and people who have an interest in economic cooperation, we can overcome these obstacles," said Beqaj.

Meanwhile, Ambassador of Croatia Zlatko Kramariq, expressed satisfaction with the interest of Kosovo by the level of economic cooperation. "The interest of the Republic of Croatia, in addition to stability and peace in the region, the Republic of Kosovo, and beyond, is well positioned to raise the level of economic cooperation in a better form between our two countries," said. Kramariq.

Trade exchange between Kosovo and Croatia during the past year has been about 40 million euros. To promote this level, Kramariq cited the possibility of cooperation in agriculture and energy as well as cooperation between the municipalities of both countries.
