Erie Insurance climbs to 308th on 2026 Fortune 500 list, up 15 spots

Erie Insurance climbed to 308th on the 2026 Fortune 500 list, advancing 15 spots from its previous ranking of 323rd, according to the company’s official announcement.

The Pennsylvania-based insurer, which ranks among America’s largest corporations by revenue, moved up based on total revenue for the 2025 fiscal year. The ranking reflects steady growth for the regional property and casualty insurance carrier.

This year marks the 23rd consecutive appearance on the Fortune 500 list for Erie Insurance, which first debuted at No. 454 in 2003. The company has climbed significantly over two decades, improving its position by more than 140 spots since its initial listing.

The 2026 Fortune 500 list, now in its 72nd year, set a revenue threshold of $7.5 billion for inclusion—a 5% increase from the prior year. Together, Fortune 500 companies account for approximately two-thirds of U.S. gross domestic product.

Tim NeCastro, president and chief executive officer of Erie Insurance, attributed the ranking to the company’s core values and commitment to service. “Our place on the Fortune 500 reflects the trust our customers place in ERIE and the dedication our employees and agents bring to serving them every day,” NeCastro said in a statement. “For more than a century, ERIE has grown by staying true to the values that have guided us from the beginning and by maintaining a commitment to service that puts people first.”

Erie Insurance operates as a mutual insurance company serving customers across multiple states, offering homeowners, auto, business, and life insurance products. The company is based in Erie, Pennsylvania, and remains the only Fortune 500 company headquartered in Erie County.
