Chase Sapphire Preferred adds 3x gas rewards, $100 hotel credit starting June 15

Chase announced on June 10, 2026, that its Sapphire Preferred card is gaining 3x points on gas and EV charging, plus a $100 annual hotel credit starting June 15, 2026, while keeping the $95 annual fee unchanged.

The new gas and EV charging category joins an expanded vacation rental bonus: cardholders will earn 3x points on bookings made directly through Airbnb, Vrbo, Plum Guide, HomeAway, Homestay.com and Vacasa, according to Chase’s official announcement. The hotel credit doubles from $50 to $100 each account anniversary year when redeemed through Chase Travel.

Beyond rewards, the card adds a $120 credit toward Global Entry, TSA PreCheck or NEXUS applications every four years—a new benefit aimed at frequent travelers. Cardholders also gain emergency evacuation and transportation coverage of up to $100,000 if injured or sick more than 100 miles from home, plus a complimentary one-year Apple TV subscription when activated by December 31, 2026.

The refresh preserves Sapphire Preferred’s existing earning structure: 5x points on Chase Travel purchases, 3x on dining worldwide and streaming services, 2x on all other travel, and 1x on everything else. The card continues to offer no foreign transaction fees and Points Boost, a feature that unlocks bonus redemption value on select flights and hotels booked through Chase Travel.

Two changes will affect existing cardholders starting October 1, 2026. The 10% anniversary bonus on all purchases—a long-standing perk—will end; those who applied before June 15 can earn the bonus through October 1, with points awarded by January 31, 2027. Additionally, Ultimate Rewards points will transfer to World of Hyatt at a 4:3 ratio instead of 1:1, meaning 1,000 points become 750 Hyatt points. New applicants on or after June 15 see this rate immediately; existing cardholders get until October 1 before the change applies.

The Sapphire Preferred remains a cornerstone of Chase’s travel card lineup. The refresh with doubled hotel credit and new perks reflects Chase’s strategy to compete in a crowded premium travel rewards market where cards from American Express, Capital One and Citi offer overlapping benefits. The addition of 3x gas rewards addresses a gap many travelers cited, while the expanded hotel credit helps offset the annual fee entirely for cardholders who book hotel stays annually.
