Dave Portnoy’s memoir ‘Cancel Me If You Can’ arrives June 30

Dave Portnoy’s memoir Cancel Me If You Can arrives June 30, 2026, published by Gallery Books, a division of Simon & Schuster. The 320-page hardcover details how the Barstool Sports founder built his polarizing digital media empire from a four-page broadsheet in 2004 to a nine-figure company with over 300 employees and 150 active brands.

Quick Facts

  • Release date: June 30, 2026
  • Publisher: Gallery Books (Simon & Schuster)
  • Page count: 320 pages
  • Price: $32.99 (hardcover)

In the memoir, Portnoy uses what the publisher describes as his “sharp wit and authentic voice” to recount his journey building Barstool Sports while facing public criticism. The book covers the company’s origins in 2004, when Portnoy distributed a handwritten sports newspaper across Boston, through its evolution into a major digital media operation.

Portnoy’s approach to the memoir reflects his public persona. According to the publisher’s description, he “lays it all out: the hard work, the timing, the luck, the poisonous relationships behind the curtain, and the balls it took to get to where he is today.” The book also addresses his controversial public profile, acknowledging that “half the internet hates him while the other half loves him,” but emphasizing his refusal to soften his voice or bend to critics.

The audiobook edition will be read by Portnoy himself and published simultaneously by Simon & Schuster Audio Books. Natasha Simons, Vice President and Executive Editor at Gallery Books, acquired the rights from Portnoy’s representatives at UTA.

Preorders are available through major retailers including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, and Target, with signed editions also available through specialty collectibles sellers.
