Southwest Airlines is launching 7 new routes on June 4, 2026, including a daily nonstop flight between Boston and San Diego that will stretch nearly 2,600 miles across the continental United States. The expansion marks part of the airline’s largest summer schedule overhaul in years.
The Boston-San Diego route represents Southwest’s first nonstop service connecting the East Coast directly to Southern California. According to Southwest’s investor relations announcement, San Diego will see an all-time high of 134 trips on peak days and service to 43 destinations from the airport once the new Terminal 1 opens.
Beyond the June 4 launches, Southwest is adding 13 more routes on June 6, bringing the total new routes in June to 20. The expansion includes new international service from Las Vegas to Cancun, Los Cabos, and Puerto Vallarta, as well as increased frequencies on eight existing Las Vegas routes and 11 Orlando routes. The airline’s first-ever service to Anchorage, Alaska, is scheduled to begin May 15, 2026, with daily summer flights connecting the city to Denver and Las Vegas.
