Vivek Ramaswamy adds $5M to Ohio bid and edges Amy Acton in new poll

Vivek Ramaswamy added $5 million of his own money to his Ohio gubernatorial campaign, and a new co/efficient poll shows Republican Vivek Ramaswamy edging Democrat Amy Acton in the race.

The campaign finance filing reported that Ramaswamy wrote a personal $5 million check last month, bringing his total personal contributions and loans to roughly $36.3 million, according to Signal Ohio.

The same week, Newsweek reported a co/efficient poll conducted Oct. 5–6 that put Ramaswamy at 45 percent and Acton at 43 percent among 925 likely voters, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.49 percentage points.

That poll breaks a string of surveys published in late September and early October that had shown Acton leading in the contest. Newsweek noted the figure fell within the poll’s margin of error and that the race remains close as early voting continues.

Ramaswamy’s fresh $5 million infusion was reported in his latest state campaign finance disclosure and was described by the outlet as an additional personal check rather than outside donations. Signal Ohio reported his personal total after the contribution as $36.3 million.

Newsweek’s article placed the co/efficient poll in the context of other recent surveys, citing CNN/SSRS and The New York Times/Siena results that at times showed Acton ahead. Newsweek also noted prediction-market odds favor Acton even after the new poll.

The two developments—Ramaswamy’s additional self-funding and the narrow co/efficient poll result—arrive as both campaigns press for late votes and advertising in the final weeks before Election Day.

For broader Ohio election context, recent statewide polling has also shown competitive races in the Senate and governor contests, and analysts continue to classify the governor’s race as a toss-up heading into November.

Internal coverage on the site examines nearby statewide dynamics, including a recent poll showing Sherrod Brown leads Jon Husted and a national assessment of congressional shifts in the cycle in the Cook Political Report shifts.
