Ukraine news: Russian drone and missile strikes have struck Kyiv, Odesa and Zaporizhzhia, according to reports from Reuters and RFE/RL that described attacks across multiple regions of Ukraine.
Reuters reported explosions across Kyiv and said the attack killed five people in the capital, damaged high-rise buildings and hit other sites, while also noting hits and evacuations in Zaporizhzhia and Odesa regions.
RFE/RL’s Ukrainian Service said the strikes included ballistic and cruise missiles and about 129 attack drones, and quoted Ukraine’s Air Force saying air defenses had “destroyed or suppressed 110 of the targets” and that the Odesa region was the most affected.
The reports describe strikes on civilian buildings and infrastructure, including damage to apartment towers and a TV channel building in Kyiv, and wounded and killed civilians in Zaporizhzhia and Odesa regions.
Ukraine news coverage has also highlighted the strategic pattern: Reuters noted that both Russia and Ukraine have intensified long-range strikes as front-line fighting has largely stalled, with attacks increasingly aimed at logistics and economic targets.
The same Reuters report said a rail worker was killed in a double-tap drone strike on a passenger train in Zaporizhzhia and that passengers were evacuated after several rail-related hits. RFE/RL added that Ukrainian drones have struck industrial targets in Russia in recent days.
