Andy Jassy says Amazon’s AI-chip unit tops $25 billion run rate

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy told investors the company’s custom chips business has topped a $25 billion annual revenue run rate, according to the company’s Q2 2026 disclosures.

Jassy made the statement as part of Amazon’s reporting for the quarter; the company said its chips business “exceeded a $25 billion annual revenue run rate” and noted it is growing at “triple-digit percentages year-over-year,” according to Amazon’s Q2 results release and the earnings call transcript.

The disclosure appears in Amazon’s investor materials for the quarter, which list both AWS results and a separate line for the company’s custom silicon and AI-related offerings. Reporting around the Q2 results also described AWS and the chips business as fast-growing parts of the company.

Analysts and business outlets picked up Jassy’s comments after the company posted its quarterly numbers. Coverage noted the run rate figure when summarising the earnings release and the CEO’s remarks on the call.

Why it matters: Amazon’s chips include Trainium for training models and Inferentia for inference, products the company has pitched as lower-cost alternatives for customers compared with third-party accelerators, according to the company’s public statements during the quarter.

Those product lines and the broader AI revenue stream are part of the backdrop for Amazon’s ongoing investments in infrastructure and tooling for generative AI workloads, a point Jassy and company filings emphasised in the quarter’s investor materials.
