Lehigh University announced that george w bush will open its 2026–27 Compelling Perspectives series with a conversation on Oct. 29, 2026, joining Lehigh President Joseph J. Helble for a discussion on democracy, civic service and leadership.
The university’s news release says the 43rd president will appear on campus to launch the series, which this year is titled “Bridging Divides: Democracy, Civic Service and Leadership for a Shared Future.”
Lehigh and local coverage report that advance registration was required and scheduled to open at 11 a.m. on Sept. 2; tickets were made available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Lehigh’s announcement notes the event has reached capacity and a waitlist has been established for students, faculty, staff and alumni, and that the appearance will be closed to media.
Compelling Perspectives launched in 2023 as a campus forum for civil discourse; Lehigh says this year’s program will examine how leaders and institutions can strengthen democracy by fostering civic responsibility and engaging across differences.
The Morning Call reported that past Compelling Perspectives guests have included public figures such as former prime ministers, journalists and technology founders, placing Bush’s talk in the series’ broader pattern of high-profile campus conversations.
