The USDA has recalled nearly 30,000 pounds of raw beef imported from Argentina after the shipment bypassed required federal inspection before entering U.S. commerce, the Food Safety and Inspection Service announced on August 7, 2026.
Corte Argentino USA LLC, based in Aventura, Florida, initiated the recall of approximately 29,628 pounds of boneless beef products that were produced between May 15 and May 20, 2026. The beef came from Frigorifico Gorina SAIC in Argentina and includes five cuts: Top Sirloin Butt, Eye Round, Topside Cap Off, Flat, and Knuckle. The products bear Argentinian establishment number “EST. N° OF. 2025” and shipping mark “26644-AA,” with use or freeze-by dates between September 15 and September 20, 2026.
The FSIS classified the recall as Class I, the agency’s highest risk category. According to FSIS guidance, a Class I recall involves a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that use of the product will cause serious adverse health effects. The critical issue was not contamination detected at inspection, but rather that the beef entered U.S. commerce without the legally required import reinspection process.
Federal law mandates that every commercial shipment of imported meat must be inspected by FSIS before it can legally enter the U.S. market. This import reinspection verifies the product’s condition, certification, and compliance with U.S. food safety standards. The problem was discovered during routine FSIS inspection activities, according to the agency’s announcement.
The recalled beef was distributed to retailers and distributors in Florida and Texas. The FSIS urged consumers who purchased these products to throw them away or return them to the place of purchase. The agency stressed that consumers should not consume the recalled beef.
As of the recall announcement, there have been no confirmed reports of illness or injury from consumption of these products. The FSIS indicated it would conduct recall effectiveness checks to verify that the recalling firm notified customers and that the product was removed from consumer access.
