American Airlines is refreshing its complimentary cabin snacks beginning in October 2026, adding Goldfish, Tate’s Bake Shop chocolate chip cookies, and Peterson’s savory and sweet snack mix to its Main Cabin lineup, according to the airline’s announcement on August 26.
Morning flights will continue to feature the beloved Biscoff cookie, a customer favorite that pairs with Lavazza coffee, while Goldfish will now also be offered in the morning for a sweet-and-savory balance. Later in the day, passengers will have the option of Goldfish, Tate’s chocolate chip cookies, and Peterson’s snack mix, giving fliers more variety throughout their journey.

The updated lineup reflects American’s focus on listening to customer feedback and understanding travel habits. “Small details can make a meaningful difference in the travel experience, especially the familiar touches customers look forward to throughout their journey,” said Heather Garboden, American’s Chief Customer Officer, in the announcement. The airline tested the new offerings before rolling them out, ensuring the selections would resonate with passengers.
This snack refresh is part of a broader effort to elevate the inflight experience. American has recently enhanced its premium dining offerings, introduced centennial-inspired menus celebrating its 100 years of flight, and added California wines to its beverage service. The airline noted that snacks will rotate over time as it continues to listen to customer preferences, with more choices expected in 2027.

American’s move stands in contrast to some competitors. Delta Air Lines, for example, eliminated complimentary snacks and beverages on flights under 350 miles starting in May 2026, affecting roughly 450 flights. Other carriers like JetBlue and Southwest continue to offer complimentary snacks on longer routes, highlighting divergent strategies across the industry. American’s refresh suggests the airline is betting that premium snack variety can enhance passenger loyalty and satisfaction on its broader network.
The snack rollout on select flights begins in early October, with a wider deployment expected to follow as American scales the program across its network.
