Dutch Boy Paints has named Deep Rooted (311-7DB), a rich, earthy orange, as its 2027 Color of the Year, the company announced on August 25. The warm, burnished shade reflects a cultural shift toward spaces that feel joyful and inviting, drawing inspiration from nature and conveying grounded optimism.
Orange is a rare choice for Color of the Year honors across the paint industry. Lisbeth Parada, Dutch Boy’s color marketing manager, explained that Deep Rooted “offers a color that feels rich, grounding and deeply human,” building on the warmth introduced by the brand’s 2026 Color of the Year, Melodious Ivory, but with greater boldness and depth.
The selection process blended design research, market insights, and cultural analysis. Dutch Boy’s team identified the color trending across Spring/Summer 2027 fashion collections from designers including Diesel, Marni, Loewe, Valentino, Louis Vuitton, and Christian Dior.
