Minnesota primary election today: find your polling place

Minnesota’s primary election is today, August 11, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters can find their exact polling place by entering their address at the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Polling Place Finder, which displays your polling location, ballot contents, and precinct information.

For those who haven’t yet registered, Minnesota allows same-day registration at any polling place on Election Day. Voters can bring proof of residence—such as a utility bill, lease, or mortgage statement—to register or update their registration when they arrive.

The election determines the nominees for major statewide races, including the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Tina Smith, who is not seeking reelection. On the Democratic side, U.S. Representative Angie Craig and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan are competing in a closely watched primary. Republicans will also select their Senate nominee from a contested field.

Early voting set a record in Minnesota this cycle. As of Monday, August 10, more than 206,000 Minnesotans had cast ballots early—either in person or by mail—marking the largest pre-Election Day turnout in any primary, according to the Minnesota Secretary of State. The state introduced 18 days of in-person early voting for the first time in 2026, beginning June 26, which expanded voter access ahead of today.
