Ranked 122nd in the FedExCup standings, he must win the Wyndham Championship to secure a spot in the FedExCup Playoffs, the postseason competition that qualifies the top 70 players on the points list. Hossler has earned over $14 million in his PGA Tour career without a win, a distinction shared by only 16 other professionals in tour history, according to Golf Digest. At 28 years old, he has remained a consistent performer on tour but has never captured a title despite numerous opportunities and strong finishes.
The Wyndham Championship itself carries significant historical weight. The tournament traces its roots to 1938, when it was founded as the Greater Greensboro Open, and has been held at Sedgefield Country Club’s Donald Ross-designed course since 2008. Cameron Young, the defending champion, won last year at 22-under par, setting the standard for dominant performances at the venue.
