McDonald's brings Caesar sauce back with 4 new chicken items

McDonald’s brought Caesar sauce back to its menu on July 21 with four new chicken items, marking the return of the flavor after the chain discontinued its salad menu in 2020. The limited-time Caesar sauce is a creamy, garlicky parmesan blend infused with notes of lemon, according to McDonald’s, and it’s paired with the Caesar Snack Wrap, Bacon Caesar McCrispy sandwich, McCrispy Strips with Caesar Sauce, and a Caesar Sauce dipping cup.

The Caesar Snack Wrap, available nationwide for $2.99, features a McCrispy Strip topped with shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, and the new sauce, all wrapped in a tortilla. The Bacon Caesar McCrispy is a more substantial option, combining a McCrispy chicken filet with the Caesar sauce, thick-cut applewood smoked bacon, shredded lettuce, Roma tomatoes, crispy onions, and crinkle-cut pickles on a toasted potato roll.

McDonald’s also reformulated its McCrispy Strips to pair with the new sauce, and customers can order the Caesar Sauce in a standalone dip cup to use on any menu item of their choice. The sauce marks a notable shift for the fast-food chain, which had removed Caesar flavor entirely from its lineup when it discontinued its salad offerings six years ago.

The return of Caesar flavor sparked enthusiasm among customers, with many expressing relief that the classic taste was back—even if not in salad form. However, the announcement also prompted nostalgia for McDonald’s discontinued salad menu and even its early 2000s McSalad Shakers, which featured a Grilled Chicken Caesar option served in a shake-able cup. McDonald’s recently brought back another fan-favorite item when it reintroduced its famous Fried Apple Pie on June 23, also for a limited time, after replacing it with a baked version in the 1990s.
