PT Organics Limited initiated a voluntary recall of select Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry fruit pouches on July 21, 2026, after discovering that soft, food-grade plastic strands could be present in the product due to a packaging defect.
The recalled 4-ounce pouches were sold exclusively through Kroger, Meijer, and Target retail stores nationwide between March 6 and July 13, 2026. Consumers can identify affected products by barcode 8 15367 01078 0, lane number 4 printed on the rear right-hand side seam, and best-before dates of 01/19/2027, 01/20/2027, 03/17/2027, 03/18/2027, 05/14/2027, or 05/15/2027, according to the FDA.
PT Organics’ inspections of finished product made with the recalled packaging confirmed the presence of a strand of soft, food-grade plastic attached to the inside of a small number of pouches, according to Food Safety News. The company discovered the issue after its packaging supplier recalled a production run of defective pouches last week.
No injuries or illnesses have been reported related to the recall. PT Organics encourages consumers and caregivers to check their products against the barcode, lane number, and best-before dates listed above. Those who have recalled product should dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase and should not eat or feed it to another person.
Packaging defects have emerged as a significant driver of food recalls in recent years. In February 2026, Ventura Foods recalled more than 22,000 cases of single-serve peanut butter and peanut-butter-and-jelly products after discovering pieces of blue plastic in a production filter, according to the FDA. That recall, originally initiated in April 2025, was upgraded to a Class II classification by the FDA, meaning the product could cause health problems if consumed.
