Fidelity’s global macro director Jurrien Timmer says Bitcoin is nearing a key support level around $56,000 and may be entering an accumulation phase, according to analysis released in mid-July 2026.
Timmer’s power law model, which tracks Bitcoin’s long-term valuation channel since 2015, currently places support at approximately $56,500, down from the cryptocurrency’s all-time high of about $126,000 reached in October 2025.
“At $60k it’s getting ever closer to its power law support line,” Timmer wrote in his analysis. The model derives support and resistance bands from historical price data, with the lower boundary marking what Fidelity considers a critical floor where Bitcoin has historically established accumulation zones.
An accumulation phase typically occurs after a significant market decline, when prices stabilize near support levels and investors begin building positions ahead of the next bull cycle. Fidelity notes that previous accumulation zones have generally coincided with major market bottoms—such as the $15,476 level reached in 2022.
Bitcoin has fallen roughly 50% from its October 2025 peak, a decline consistent with the asset’s historical bear market patterns. According to retrieved analysis, prior Bitcoin bear markets have routinely seen drawdowns of 70% to 85% from cycle highs before establishing lasting bottoms.
Not all analysts agree on where Bitcoin will find support. Some traders reading the same power law chart argue the model could allow for a much deeper decline toward $29,000, a move that would represent roughly a 54% drop from current levels. Blockchain analytics firm CryptoQuant identified a potential bottom near $53,600 in June, though it cautioned that spot demand remained “deeply unfavorable” at that time.
Timmer’s assessment aligns with Fidelity’s earlier view that 2026 would be an “off year” for Bitcoin following the peak of its four-year cycle. The firm has suggested Bitcoin could bottom somewhere in the $65,000 to $75,000 range before recovering in the years ahead.
