SDGE schedules multiple planned outages across San Diego County on July 15

San Diego Gas & Electric scheduled multiple planned outages across San Diego County on July 15, 2026, with power cuts affecting various communities from early morning through late afternoon as crews performed system upgrades and maintenance work.

The outages were staggered throughout the day across dozens of circuits. In South Chula Vista, Castle Park, and Otay areas, outages began at 8:30 a.m. and were scheduled to end by 10 a.m., while another outage in the same region started at 1:30 p.m. and was expected to last until 3 p.m. La Jolla, La Jolla Shores, and Soledad Mountain experienced an outage from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Rancho Peñasquitos, Rancho Bernardo, and San Pasqual saw power cuts from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

According to SDGE’s outage detail list, the utility described the reason for the shutoffs as necessary work to upgrade the electric system and make required repairs to the electrical infrastructure. The outages affected areas including Escondido, Fallbrook, Japatul Valley, Borrego Springs, and Oceanside, with each area receiving specific notification through email, text message, or mailed letter prior to the scheduled interruption.

SDGE maintains that planned outages are essential for maintaining safe and reliable service. The utility periodically schedules these interruptions to replace aging or damaged equipment, upgrade infrastructure, and perform routine maintenance that cannot be completed while power is flowing. Customers can check SDGE’s outage map and call 1-800-411-7343 for more information about planned outages in their specific area.
