Nebius secures $1 billion AI computing deal with Reflection AI

Nebius, the European AI infrastructure provider, secured a $1 billion computing deal with Reflection AI, a U.S. startup developing open-source artificial intelligence models, according to announcements earlier today.

The agreement, which runs through 2029, provides Reflection access to Nvidia’s latest GB300 AI chips. Reflection, currently valued at $8 billion, was founded in 2024 by two former Google DeepMind researchers, Misha Laskin and Ioannis Antonoglou, who previously worked on frontier language models including PaLM and Gemini.

Reflection has raised close to $2.6 billion in funding from major backers including Nvidia, Sequoia Capital, and Lightspeed Venture Partners. The startup is building open-weight AI models and autonomous coding agents, positioning itself as an alternative to closed-source AI labs as debate intensifies over data retention and government control of AI technology.

The Reflection deal marks Nebius’s third major computing agreement in recent months. Earlier this year, Nebius signed a five-year infrastructure deal with Meta worth up to $27 billion, which includes $12 billion of dedicated capacity and up to $15 billion of additional available compute. Last year, the company also secured a multi-year agreement with Microsoft valued at up to $19.4 billion.

These consecutive large contracts reflect surging demand for AI infrastructure as major technology companies and emerging AI startups race to secure computing capacity. Nebius, which was formerly the international arm of Russian tech giant Yandex, has positioned itself as a critical supplier to the AI industry, leveraging partnerships with Nvidia to deploy cutting-edge GPU systems globally.
