Gallagher, who serves as Fox News’ chief breaking news correspondent and anchor of Fox News @ Night, has been with the network since its launch in 1996. The book opens with Gallagher as a fourteen-year-old attending legendary basketball coach John Wooden’s storied camp with $250 he had scraped together. Though he had hoped for extensive coaching insights, Wooden’s only appearance lasted minutes—and his advice seemed underwhelming: always practice in two pairs of socks to avoid blisters. Yet in hindsight, Gallagher writes, that simple instruction about preparation and fundamentals guided him throughout his life.
