Trace Gallagher announces memoir ‘Turns Out They Were Right All Along’ coming September 15

Fox News anchor Trace Gallagher announced that his memoir “Turns Out They Were Right All Along: Life Lessons I Learned…Eventually” will be published by HarperCollins on September 15, 2026. The book, priced at $32.99, draws on Gallagher’s three decades in broadcasting and his personal life to explore how unexpected advice and seemingly inconsequential moments shaped his career and character.

Gallagher, who serves as Fox News’ chief breaking news correspondent and anchor of Fox News @ Night, has been with the network since its launch in 1996. The 240-page memoir weaves together stories from his down-to-earth personal life alongside his experiences covering major breaking news events throughout his 26-year tenure at Fox News.

The book opens with Gallagher as a fourteen-year-old attending legendary basketball coach John Wooden’s storied camp with $250 he had scraped together. Though he had hoped for extensive coaching insights, Wooden’s only appearance lasted minutes—and his advice seemed underwhelming: always practice in two pairs of socks to avoid blisters. Yet in hindsight, Gallagher writes, that simple instruction about preparation and fundamentals guided him throughout his life.

Other chapters recount Gallagher’s years as a professional water skier, including failed stunts and wipeouts, as well as his unsuccessful attempt to teach superstar Jimmy Buffett to water ski. He also shares stories about his yellow Labrador, Jack, whose destructive behavior and unconditional love taught the Gallagher family lessons about patience and finding joy amid chaos.

The memoir includes a moment Gallagher describes as nearly ending his television career just as it was taking off—a principled stand that could have been his undoing but instead became a defining moment in his groundbreaking career. With wry humor and authenticity, Gallagher demonstrates why the quirkiest lessons and wildest stories often leave the deepest marks.

The book has drawn endorsements from prominent figures. Olympic decathlon champion Caitlyn Jenner wrote, “If there was a gold medal for storytelling, Trace Gallagher and Turns Out They Were Right All Along would be at the top of the podium.” Colin Cowherd, host of The Herd with Colin Cowherd, called him “the best live reporter I’ve ever worked with and a total straight shooter.” Musician John Ondrasik of Five for Fighting praised Gallagher’s gift for writing about life, while Rich Frank, former president of Walt Disney Studios, highlighted the book’s focus on character, purpose, and the lessons that endure.

Gallagher’s memoir joins a growing list of books by Fox News personalities. In 2026 alone, Fox News personalities have released several titles: Shannon Bream’s “Nothing is Impossible with God: Eleven Heroes. One God. Endless Lessons,” which debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list in March 2026, and Rachel Campos-Duffy’s “All American Patriotism,” released in May 2026. The trend reflects Fox News Media’s publishing imprint strategy of capitalizing on the popularity and loyalty of its on-air personalities.
