Kayem Foods has issued a hot dog recall affecting about 1,584,361 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said on Oct. 17.
The FSIS alert says the recalled items — which include hot dogs, bacon, sausages, deli meats and other RTE products — “may have experienced temperature abuse during storage,” and were produced between March 31 and Oct. 7, 2026.
Kayem’s own press release describes the action as a voluntary recall after the company discovered a cooling system malfunction at a warehouse; Kayem said the affected products were stored and shipped between June 7 and Oct. 14, 2026. The company is contacting wholesale and retail customers directly and is advising consumers to dispose of or return any recalled items.

The FSIS notice lists establishment numbers printed inside the USDA mark of inspection — “EST. M/P 7839,” “EST. P 20935A” and “EST. M 9520” — and says the products were shipped to retail and foodservice locations nationwide and to Hong Kong. FSIS classified the recall as a Class I processing-defect recall and is conducting effectiveness checks.
Kayem and FSIS both say there have been no confirmed reports of illness tied to the products. FSIS urged consumers who bought any of the listed items not to eat them and to contact a healthcare provider if they are concerned about possible illness.

How consumers can check: FSIS posted a full product list and UPC codes on its recall page and Kayem’s recall announcement points customers to that list for brand, item description, UPC and lot code details. The recall applies to a wide range of package sizes and brand labels; consumers should compare UPCs and lot codes before deciding whether a product at home is affected.
This hot dog recall follows standard USDA procedures: FSIS said it opened the alert after the firm received a retail customer complaint about warm product temperatures on Oct. 1 and the establishment’s investigation found temperature deviations in a warehouse cooler.
What to do with recalled product: both the company and FSIS advise throwing affected items away or returning them to the place of purchase. Consumers with food-safety questions can call the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-MPHotline (888-674-6854).
