Kristi Noem is no longer serving as the Trump administration’s special envoy to the Shield of the Americas, the State Department confirmed to multiple outlets.
State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott told NewsNation and The Hill that “the secretary’s time as envoy expired,” and a State Department official told CBS News, “Kristi Noem’s envoy status expired last month and she is no longer in the role.”

According to CBS News, Noem remains involved with the initiative in a different capacity: a State Department official said she is now serving as a senior adviser to Deputy Secretary Landau and “continues to work on the Shield of the Americas portfolio.”
Noem was first named special envoy in March after her removal as Homeland Security secretary, and her public activity in the role was limited to a small number of diplomatic meetings, CBS reported, including meetings during the U.N. General Assembly and a March visit to Ecuador.

The Hill reported State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said on NewsNation that Noem will remain at State as a senior adviser but declined to detail what her advisory duties will include.
Kristi Noem’s envoy designation and her continued advisory role were confirmed by both CBS News and The Hill in reporting that cited State Department officials directly.
