Publix store closures have hit both Florida and metro Atlanta, with the Publix at Atlantic Station set to close December 27, 2025 and several Florida locations tracked in 2026, according to local reports and closure trackers.
AtlantaFi reported the Atlantic Station Publix will shutter on December 27, 2025, and said Publix cited the store’s small footprint and parking challenges in announcing the decision.
WSH/Yahoo News coverage of local reporting confirmed two metro-Atlanta closures — Atlantic Station and a Shallowford Road location — noting residents and community leaders said the loss removes a full-service grocery within walking distance for many neighbors.
Store Closure Watch, which maintains a rolling list of retailer shutdowns, shows multiple Publix events across Florida and Georgia in 2025–2026 and lists sample closure rows for Largo and St. Petersburg in early 2026.
Publix told AtlantaFi it will offer associates at the Atlantic Station location positions at nearby stores, the local report said; community groups are talking to other grocers about the space.
What this means for shoppers: the Atlantic Station management said it is focused on leasing and that interim shuttle adjustments are being made to help residents reach alternate supermarkets while the community seeks a replacement tenant.
Industry trackers and local outlets show this is not an isolated incident: Store Closure Watch recorded six Publix closure events across FL and GA as of October 2026, and local coverage in Atlanta detailed two specific metro closures.
