Trump Accounts offer a one-time $1,000 federal seed deposit for eligible U.S. children born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028, if an account election is made, the IRS says.
The Internal Revenue Service reported that more than 4 million children had been signed up for Trump Accounts and that over 1 million had claimed the $1,000 pilot contribution via Form 4547, the agency said in a March 31, 2026 release.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury published rules and guidance explaining eligibility: the $1,000 pilot deposit applies to children who are U.S. citizens with Social Security numbers and were born in calendar years 2025 through 2028, according to Treasury and IRS materials.
The Treasury also announced the full nationwide launch of the Trump Accounts app on July 4, 2026, adding account dashboards and 15 interactive financial-education modules for parents and kids to track balances and contributions in real time.

Families can open a Trump Account at TrumpAccounts.gov and may receive employer, state, or charitable contributions in addition to the federal pilot deposit; more than 50 companies had committed employer contributions by the Treasury’s announcement.
Financial firms and consumer guides note that Trump Accounts are tax-favored accounts that accept contributions after July 4, 2026, and that eligible parents generally must make an election (using IRS Form 4547) to trigger the federal seed deposit, per IRS guidance and the Federal Register notice on the pilot program.
Employers and charities can contribute to a child’s Trump Account; several companies have publicly said they will match or offer contributions to employees’ children as a benefit, expanding how families might grow the initial $1,000 seed money. For examples of corporate matching commitments, see reporting on employer contributions from the program.
The Treasury framed Trump Accounts as a way to expand stock ownership and long-term saving from day one, while the IRS emphasized the simple election process tied to tax filings that parents can use to enroll eligible children in the pilot deposit.
