IonQ stock surges 12.4% on raised 2026 revenue guidance to $450M-$460M

IonQ stock surged 12.4% on September 8 after the quantum computing company raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to $450 million to $460 million, reflecting strong demand for its quantum platform and the integration of its $1.8 billion SkyWater Technology acquisition.

The updated guidance, announced during IonQ’s Investor Day webcast at 12:30 PM Eastern, represents a substantial increase from the company’s August guidance of $280 million to $290 million. The new range includes contributions from SkyWater beginning July 31, 2026—when the acquisition closed—through the end of the year, while accounting for the elimination of intercompany revenues between the two companies.

IonQ CEO Niccolo de Masi said in a statement that the updated guidance “highlights both the market traction of our quantum platform and the foundational manufacturing scale provided by SkyWater.” De Masi added that the companies are “executing on a shared roadmap that accelerates our timeline and capabilities to achieve commercial-scale, fault tolerant quantum computing.”

The guidance increase marks the third upward revision in 2026. In May, after reporting Q1 revenue of $64.7 million—up 755% year-over-year—IonQ raised guidance to $260 million to $270 million. The company then raised it again in August following Q2 results of $80.1 million, representing 287% year-over-year growth.

The SkyWater acquisition creates what IonQ describes as the only vertically integrated full-stack quantum platform, combining IonQ’s quantum computing technology with SkyWater’s domestic semiconductor manufacturing capabilities. The integration allows IonQ to control its supply chain and scale production of its quantum systems, including its latest Tempo quantum computer.

The quantum computing sector is positioning itself for significant expansion. According to IonQ’s investor materials, global quantum computing revenue is estimated to grow to $3 billion to $4 billion by 2028, creating a large addressable market for companies that can achieve commercial viability. IonQ’s rapid revenue growth and major customer partnerships with Amazon Web Services, AstraZeneca, and NVIDIA underscore the emerging commercial demand for quantum solutions in drug discovery, materials science, and financial modeling.

CFO Inder Singh noted that “releasing our first combined guidance as a unified organization is a pivotal step that demonstrates the immediate financial and operational strength of bringing IonQ and SkyWater together.” The company plans to discuss its long-term roadmap and operational integration during today’s investor presentations.
