The 26 partner universities now include Ohio State University, University of Wisconsin, Arizona State University, University of Georgia, University of Texas, Louisiana State University, University of Alabama, and University of Florida, among others. Each institution has established dedicated Fostering the Future programs to support eligible students.
The initiative addresses a significant educational gap. According to national research, only 3% of former foster youth earn a bachelor’s degree, compared to 36% to 46% of the general population. This disparity has prompted Trump’s multi-pronged approach to foster care support.
Beyond scholarships, Trump’s broader Fostering the Future initiative has achieved additional milestones in 2026. In June, she launched Fostering the Future Accounts, the nation’s first savings and investment accounts designed specifically for foster youth to build financial security. The administration also secured $30 million in President Trump’s FY2026 budget for HUD’s Melania Trump Foster Youth to Independence housing program. Trump has championed both an executive order and legislation—the Fostering the Future Act—to strengthen federal support for the foster care ecosystem.
The IndyCar and Fox partnership extends beyond scholarships. The Freedom 250 Grand Prix race weekend in Washington, DC, featured IndyCar vehicles branded with Be Best and Fostering the Future messaging, raising public awareness for the foster care community. The historic race course wrapped around the National Mall with the Fostering the Future logo prominently displayed.
Eric Shanks, CEO and Executive Producer of FOX Sports, stated that the partnership reflects the company’s belief in “the transformative power of sports to lift up communities and create real opportunity, especially through expanded educational access.” IndyCar President J.
