Dude Perfect CEO Andrew Yaffe departs after two years

Andrew Yaffe, the CEO of YouTube sensation Dude Perfect, is departing the company after nearly two years in the role, marking a significant leadership transition for the viral media brand. Yaffe and the company’s co-founders said in a joint statement that they had “developed different perspectives on the company’s next phase and the best path forward,” according to Axios.

Yaffe joined Dude Perfect in October 2024 as the company’s first-ever CEO, brought in to help transform the creator-driven brand into a professional media enterprise. He arrived from the NBA, where he had spent eight-plus years as Executive Vice President and head of social, digital and original content, building the league’s YouTube presence into the largest among major sports leagues.

During his tenure, Dude Perfect achieved significant growth. The company secured major partnerships with State Farm, Disney, BODYARMOR, and McDonald’s, while expanding its product offerings through the 2026 Squad Games tour, the launch of the Almost Athletes podcast, and Dude Perfect Outdoors. Yaffe also built out the company’s executive team, bringing in Rick Eddy from Fanatics as chief financial officer in late 2024 and Stephen Sparks from Live Nation as general counsel in 2025.

The departure comes as Dude Perfect manages a strategic shift in its business direction. The company, which was founded by five college friends 15 years ago, had initially planned to build a theme park in Texas, where it is headquartered. Over recent years, it pivoted toward smaller experiential concepts instead.

Patrick Hurley, a longtime investor and advisor to Dude Perfect, will assume the role of interim CEO as the company navigates this transition. Hurley is a principal at BP Capital Fund Advisors and has been involved with the company since 2022. The company has hired a search firm to begin the process of finding a permanent chief executive.

Yaffe’s exit reflects broader trends in the creator economy, where YouTube-based media companies have increasingly brought in professional executives from traditional media and sports to scale their operations. Creators like MrBeast and Smosh have similarly hired experienced CEOs to manage their expanding business empires, though such transitions don’t always result in extended tenures.

In their joint statement, the co-founders expressed gratitude for Yaffe’s contributions. “We’re extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished together during one of the most active periods in our history,” they said, with co-founder Coby Cotton adding that the team was grateful for Yaffe’s work. “Thanks to the good, hard work from him and our growing team, we have some huge opportunities ahead of us.”
