Anil Chakravarthy leads Adobe’s customer experience AI strategy

Anil Chakravarthy, president of Adobe’s Customer Experience Orchestration Business, is steering the company’s AI transformation by positioning customer experience as the enterprise’s first frontier for agentic AI adoption. Under his leadership, Adobe has launched CX Enterprise, an end-to-end system designed to help businesses orchestrate personalized customer interactions at scale using AI agents, and the strategy is gaining traction in the market.

Chakravarthy joined Adobe in January 2020 from Informatica, where he served as CEO for five years and built expertise in data management and enterprise cloud solutions. At Adobe, he initially led the Digital Experience Business—a unit that generated $5.86 billion in revenue in fiscal 2025—before it was renamed the Customer Experience Orchestration Business in January 2026 to reflect the company’s pivot toward agentic AI.

At Adobe Summit in Las Vegas on April 20, 2026, Chakravarthy unveiled Adobe CX Enterprise, an agentic AI system that unifies AI agents, agent skills, and governance layers to help brands deliver personalized experiences. The platform powers agents that handle complex workflows—from content production to one-to-one personalization—while maintaining brand consistency through Adobe Brand Intelligence, a continuously learning system that validates on-brand content. CX Enterprise Coworker, a specialized agent that executes tasks against business goals, became generally available in June 2026 following an early adoption program that engaged more than 150 leading enterprises.

The strategy is resonating with customers. Adobe’s AI-first revenue within the Customer Experience Orchestration business quadrupled year-over-year in the second quarter of fiscal 2026, according to the company’s June earnings call. Subscription revenue for Adobe Experience Platform and its native applications grew over 30% year-over-year, with the platform now delivering more than one trillion experiences annually and powering more than 80% of AEP and Adobe Experience Manager customers with agentic capabilities.

Chakravarthy has positioned CX Enterprise to work across rival AI platforms from Amazon Web Services, Anthropic, Google Cloud, Microsoft, and OpenAI, emphasizing interoperability and flexibility. The product is priced on outcomes rather than per-seat licensing, tying Adobe’s revenue to whether the agent improves conversion or retention—a model designed to turn AI pilots into recurring enterprise spending. More than 20,000 global brands have built their business on Adobe, and companies across industries are rethinking how they deploy AI across their operations, creating demand for orchestration platforms that can manage multiple agents and workflows.

Chakravarthy has also overseen Adobe’s acquisition of Semrush in April 2026, which added $480 million in annual recurring revenue and unified search engine optimization, generative engine optimization, and Adobe Experience Manager into a brand visibility solution. Major advertising agencies—including Dentsu, Havas, Omnicom, Publicis, Stagwell, and WPP—have begun standardizing on Adobe for customer experience work, and enterprise customers with more than $10 million in annual recurring revenue grew more than 20% year-over-year.

The broader context shows that AI is increasingly driving enterprise software revenue, and Chakravarthy’s strategy reflects a wider industry shift. His focus on agentic AI for customer experience positions Adobe as the control layer for how enterprises manage AI-powered customer interactions—a bet that agentic AI will move from pilot programs into operational use at scale.
