Jamie Komoroski, the South Carolina driver who was sentenced to 25 years in prison for killing newlywed Samantha Miller in a drunk-driving crash, had her arrest footage released this week, showing her refusing a breathalyzer test and repeatedly asking officers to call her father. The bodycam video, released August 6, 2026, captures Komoroski’s behavior immediately after the April 28, 2023 collision in Folly Beach, where she struck a golf cart carrying Miller and three others at 65 mph in a 25 mph zone.
Komoroski was 25 years old when she crashed into the golf cart carrying newlywed Samantha Miller, who was still wearing her wedding dress. Miller died at the scene; her husband Aric Hutchinson and two other relatives were injured. In the newly released footage, Komoroski is shown in the police station repeatedly requesting to contact her father and refusing to submit to a breathalyzer test to measure her blood alcohol level.
Her blood alcohol level was later measured at 0.261%, more than three times South Carolina’s legal limit, according to the Ninth Circuit Solicitor’s Office. When officers first approached her at the crash scene, Komoroski told them she had consumed a beer and a drink with tequila about an hour before the collision. When asked to rate her impairment on a scale from one to ten, she said eight, and officers noted she was very unsteady on her feet and nearly fell when she stood up.
In December 2024, Komoroski pleaded guilty to one count of felony DUI, two counts of DUI causing great bodily injury or death, and one count of reckless homicide. Judge Deadra Jefferson sentenced her to 25 years in prison, with sentences running concurrently—the maximum sentence available for felony DUI with death in South Carolina, which carries a range of 1 to 25 years.
At her sentencing, Komoroski acknowledged her alcohol addiction and expressed remorse. “I wish I could go back and undo this terrible tragedy. But I cannot. I will live the rest of my life with intense regret for what happened that night,” she said, according to ABC News 4. Samantha Miller’s mother, Lisa Miller, told the court that the family would be affected for a lifetime by the loss.
Beyond the criminal sentence, the widower has pursued civil remedies. Aric Hutchinson initially sought settlements from three bars that served Komoroski before the crash, alleging they failed to exercise caution in serving alcoholic beverages. A final settlement was approved by a Circuit Court judge in December 2025, with Komoroski’s insurance company paying $160,000 to Hutchinson. Combined with earlier settlements from the bars, Hutchinson has received over $863,000 total in civil payouts related to the crash.
