Mitch McConnell remains in a rehabilitation facility and has not been medically cleared to leave, nearly two months after a fall on June 14 sent the 84-year-old Kentucky Republican to the hospital. The Office of the Attending Physician confirmed on July 27 that McConnell is “not yet medically cleared to leave the rehab facility and return to the office,” according to CNN and Politico.
McConnell revealed in early July that a fall left him briefly unconscious and led to his hospitalization. While recovering in the hospital, he developed pneumonia, which responded rapidly to antibiotic treatment, according to Reuters and USA Today.
His absence has stretched across weeks of Senate business. McConnell has missed 38 votes on the Senate floor since his June 14 hospitalization, according to the Guardian and USA Today.
