Right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones called for President Trump’s impeachment on Tuesday over the Iran conflict, warning that the administration is preparing for a national draft and describing the military situation as “absolutely out of control.”
“The big issue is how to stop Trump. And we have to have Congress go for the war powers,” Jones said during a live broadcast on X, according to The Hill. “This is a war; they’re getting the draft ready. If this isn’t a war, nothing’s a war. I mean, this is absolutely out of control.”
Jones, a former owner of InfoWars and longtime Trump ally, escalated his criticism by calling for both the 25th Amendment and impeachment to remove the president. He also targeted Trump’s support of the National Defense Authorization Act, a $1.15 trillion annual defense spending bill for fiscal 2027 that would fund the Iran conflict, calling it “impeachable.”
In March, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt declined to rule out a military draft for the Iran conflict, according to The Hill. Jones’s warning about draft preparations reflects ongoing concerns among lawmakers and the public about the scope of the military operation. The House passed a war powers resolution on July 23 by a vote of 214 to 208, directing Trump to end U.S. military hostilities against Iran unless Congress voted to declare war, according to NPR and the Associated Press. While not legally binding, the resolution represented a rare rebuke of Trump from Capitol Hill.
Jones claimed that a massive ground invasion of Iran was imminent and that the conflict would destroy the economy and kill American troops. “They’re preparing a massive ground invasion. It’s all confirmed. This is going down right now,” he said in the broadcast. He also argued that the war was part of a broader effort to expand government control and limit freedoms.
Jones’s call for impeachment marks a significant break from his previous support of Trump. In April, he had already urged Republicans to distance themselves from the president over the Iran war, saying Trump was “pushing away” anti-war members of the MAGA movement, according to Forbes. In June, Democrats had pushed to invoke the 25th Amendment against Trump over his continued strikes on Iran, according to The Hill.
The Iran conflict, which began on February 28, 2026, has escalated dramatically. The House war powers resolution that passed in late July represented the second time lawmakers voted to direct Trump to end the conflict. Congress has attempted multiple times to assert its constitutional authority over military action, with the War Powers Act designed to limit the president’s ability to initiate or escalate military actions abroad without approval.
