PT Organics Limited issued a voluntary recall on July 21 for select Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry fruit puree pouches due to the potential for soft plastic contamination in the finished product.
The recalled 4-ounce pouches were sold exclusively at Kroger, Meijer, and Target retail stores nationwide between March 6 and July 13, 2026. The defect stems from an internal packaging issue identified by the company’s supplier, which alerted PT Organics to a production run of faulty pouches.
PT Organics inspections confirmed the presence of a strand of soft, food-grade plastic attached to the inside of a small number of pouches. The affected products can be identified by barcode 8 15367 01078 0 and lane number 4 printed on the rear right-hand side seam. Best-before dates include January 19, 2027; January 20, 2027; March 17, 2027; March 18, 2027; May 14, 2027; and May 15, 2027.
No injuries have been reported in connection with the recall. The company has advised consumers and caregivers to check their products against the barcode, lane number, and best-before dates listed. Consumers who have recalled product should dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase and should not eat or feed it to another person.
PT Organics’ recall follows similar physical contamination incidents in the broader food industry. In mid-July, General Mills recalled nearly 736,000 Pillsbury rolls over glass contamination, marking another instance of packaging defects reaching finished products.
