JetBlue exited Manchester-Boston Regional Airport on July 8, 2026, ending service after just 17 months, marking a sharp reversal from the airline’s heavily publicized launch at the New Hampshire airport in January 2025.
The airline cited underperforming routes and the need to redeploy aircraft to stronger markets as the reason for the exit. JetBlue described the decision as a “tough call” made to “best support national connectivity in a time of capacity crisis,” according to airport officials.
JetBlue first launched service from Manchester on January 23, 2025, with daily nonstop flights to Orlando and seasonal service to Fort Myers and Fort Lauderdale. The launch was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by New Hampshire Governor Kelly Ayotte and Manchester Mayor Jay Ruais. The airline had positioned itself as New England’s leisure carrier and promised to add 20 percent more seats to the region.
The reversal came as JetBlue faced mounting financial pressures. Fuel costs had risen 26 percent by early 2026, driven by geopolitical uncertainty, and the airline’s operating losses increased 28.5 percent year-over-year. In response, JetBlue announced plans to cut capacity, slow hiring, and raise fares to offset the fuel impact.
The Manchester exit was part of a broader summer 2026 network overhaul in which JetBlue cut 11 routes. The airline redirected aircraft toward Fort Lauderdale, its highest-performing hub, which had grown 23 percent in the first quarter of 2026 and generated a 5 percent increase in revenue. That expansion was accelerated after Spirit Airlines ceased operations on May 2, 2026, leaving JetBlue positioned to capture leisure travelers previously served by the budget carrier.
Manchester-Boston Regional Airport said it had provided “air service incentives, a substantial marketing budget, and various promotional activities” to support JetBlue but that those efforts were “not enough to overcome their ongoing business challenges, which have only been exacerbated by the recent spike in jet fuel prices.” The airport said it would continue seeking new carriers and expressed hope of welcoming JetBlue back in the future.
Passengers seeking Florida service from Manchester can turn to Southwest Airlines, which operates year-round nonstop flights to Orlando and seasonal service to Tampa, or Breeze Airways, which offers nonstop flights to Fort Myers and connecting service to Tampa and Orlando.
