Kosovo wood processing fair opens
Prishtina, 10 May 2007 - The wood processing fair “Natyra 2007” opened yesterday at the fair hall of the Ministry of Trade and Industry in the Industrial Zone in Pristina. Kosovar President Fatmir Sejdiu opened the fair by stressing that this activity shows the progress in Kosovo in terms of modern developments.
“In cooperation with USAID we begun the project of certification of Kosovo forests, which is an EU standard and which enables that all wood processors, in compliance with EU standards, become competitors on the European market,” said Tome Hajdaraj Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development. “Wood processing companies are improving on the local market, but also in terms of exporting,” said Martin Wood, USAID Representative.
The fair was facilitated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development (MAFRD), USAID, the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI), the Municipality of Prishtina, the GTZ and the Wood Processing Association.
