MFE Requests Lowering of Excise on Vehicles

Prishtina, Nov 6, 2004 - The Minister of Finance and Economy of Kosovo (MFE), Ali Sadriu requested from the Economic Fiscal Council (EFC) to lower the excise for importing of new vehicles.

According to the current Regulation, 2001/15, every imported vehicle shall be a subject to 10% customs tax, VAT of 15%, 20% of excise and 500 euro of linear excise.

The Ministry’s Information Office announced that the Department for Fiscal Policy, UNMIK Pillar IV, and other bodies in charge have set up a group for amending of the current Regulation.

The amendments aim at encouraging the import of new vehicles in Kosovo, which among others contribute to environment protection.
