Macedonia, Kosovo sign deal on investment ‘stimulation and protection’

22 January 2015, Skopje-Shkup – Macedonian Vice Premier and Minister of Finance Zoran Stavreski and Kosovo's Foreign Minister, Hashim Thaçi signed on Thursday an agreement for ‘investment stimulation and protection’.

According to a statement from Stavreski’s office, the agreement establishes “the legal

framework that guarantees ownership and related rights, and represents one of the most important prerequisites for stimulation of business initiatives and mutual investment attraction”.

Thaçi met in Skopje also with Macedonian Prime Minister, Nikola Gruevski.

Reforms implemented in Macedonia and Kosovo, European and Euro-Atlantic integration and possibilities for further enhancement of relations in all spheres of mutual interest were in the focus of the meeting, according to a press release by Gruevski’s office.

“Interlocutors expressed their strategic commitment to EU and NATO accession, highlighting the approach is the best means for regional progress,” reads the press statement.

Gruevski and Thaçi referred to the preparations for the joint government session tackling specific projects towards enlargement of cooperation, including the 90 km of highway between Skopje/Shkup and Prishtina.
